This film, depicting the experiences of torture, trauma and recovery was produced to mark the United Nations Day for Victims of Torture 2016..
Vincent Cochetel was kidnapped at gunpoint near Chechnya in 1998, while working for the United Nations. He was violently interrogated and abused by his captors, and held in near complete darkness for 317 days, before being released. Here he explains – in his own words – his long yet powerful road to recovery.
The Convention Against Torture Initiative (CTI), is an inter-governmental initiative to strengthen institutions, policies and practices and reduce the risks of torture and ill-treatment by applying the UN Convention against Torture.
Also filmed multicam, at the Red Cross Museum in Geneva, the public event held by CTI along with 14 co-sponsors – “Truth without torture: A role-play on investigative interviewing” – for their laughing of UNCAT’s Implementation and Training Tools.
